CW Dance is committed to providing a safe environment for all participants, parents, and staff during dance classes, events, and activities.
This policy applies to all classes and sessions provided by CW Dance

1. Responsibility
The business owner and lead teacher, Caitlin Wood, is responsible for ensuring that health and safety standards are met and maintained.
All staff, volunteers, and helpers must follow this policy and report any health and safety concerns immediately.

2. Venue Safety
Classes take place at approved venues that meet basic safety standards.
The venue should be free from hazards such as wet floors, obstacles, or unsafe equipment.
Any safety concerns or hazards must be reported to the venue staff and the dance school immediately.

3. Supervision
Children are supervised at all times during classes.
For toddler sessions, parents or carers must remain present and are responsible for their child throughout the session.
Children will only be released to a parent, guardian, or authorised adult.

4. Clothing & Footwear
Participants should wear appropriate clothing and footwear for the style of dance:
Contemporary
Barefoot or appropriate dance socks
Leggings or jogging bottoms that do not exceed the ankle
A fitted top, or a top that is not excessively loose, or a leotard
Breathable fabrics where possible
Spandex or stretch fabrics are encouraged
Street Dance
Trainers with sufficient grip
Fitted tracksuits, fitted joggers, or leggings
Fitted hoodies
Oversized t-shirts or normal t-shirts
Breathable fabrics where possible
Jewellery should not be worn during classes for safety reasons.

5. Medical Information & Injuries
Parents and guardians must inform the teacher of any medical conditions, injuries, or additional needs that may affect participation.
If a child becomes unwell during class, the parent or guardian will be contacted and the child may be asked to sit out or be collected.
In the event of an injury, first aid will be provided where necessary and recorded.
If an injury is serious or requires medical attention, emergency services will be contacted.

6. Emergency Procedures
Emergency contact details must be provided for each child.
In the event of an emergency, the teacher will follow the venue’s emergency procedures and contact emergency services if required.
Parents or guardians will be informed as soon as possible.

7. Covid-19 and Infectious Illness
Participants should not attend classes if they are unwell or showing symptoms of an infectious illness.
If a participant becomes unwell during class, they will be asked to leave and rest at home.
We reserve the right to follow venue guidelines or government advice regarding illness and safety.

8. Behaviour and Safety
Participants are expected to follow instructions and behave respectfully.
Any unsafe behaviour may result in the child being asked to sit out or, in serious cases, removed from the class.
Bullying or disruptive behaviour will not be tolerated.

9. Parent/Carer Responsibility
Parents/carers must ensure children arrive on time and are collected promptly.
Parents/carers must inform the teacher of any medical needs, injuries, or relevant information before class.
Parents/carers remain responsible for toddlers during sessions.
